| 9 oz | bitter chocolate (9 squares) | 255 g |
| 8 oz | butter | 225 g |
| 1-1/2 cups | flour | 350 mL |
| 3 cups | sugar | 750 mL |
| 1 tsp | salt | 5 mL |
| 6 | eggs | 6 |
| 3 tsp | vanilla | 15 mL |
| 1-1/2 cups | chopped nuts (optional) | 350 mL |
Melt chocolate and butter over hot water.
Mix flour, sugar and salt. Add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla.
Pour in butter and chocolate gradually. Beat until thoroughly mixed.
Pour batter into buttered 11-in/16-in (28-cm/40-cm) pan.
Bake at 350°F/180°C for 25 minutes.
The brownies will be a little under done but will be real fudgy.
