| 1 lb | ground cooked ham | 450 g |
| 1 lb | ground pork | 450 g |
| 2 cups | dry bread crumbs | 500 mL |
| 1 cup | milk | 250 mL |
| 2 | eggs (beaten) | 2 |
| 1 tsp | salt | 5 mL |
| Sauce | ||
| 1 1/2 cups | brown sugar | 350 mL |
| 3/4 cup | white vinegar | 175 mL |
| 3/4 cup | water | 175 mL |
| 1 tbsp | dry mustard | 15 mL |
Combine ham, pork, bread crumbs, milk, eggs and salt. Mix thoroughly. Shape into 1-in/2-cm balls and place in shallow baking dish.
Mix ingredients for sauce together and pour over meatballs.
Bake uncovered at 325°F/160°C for 40 minutes. Baste often with sauce.
To serve, keep meatballs hot in syrup in chafing dish. Fasten slice of sweet gherkin to each ball with pick.
