Ingredients
| 1 cup | shortening | 250 mL |
| 1/4 lb | margarine | 115 g |
| 1 lb | light brown sugar (sifted) | 450 g |
| 5 | eggs | 5 |
| 3 cups | all purpose flour | 725 mL |
| 1/2 tsp | salt | 2 mL |
| 1 tsp | baking powder | 5 mL |
| 1 cup | evaporated milk | 250 mL |
| 2 tsp | maple extract | 10 mL |
Directions
Cream shortening, margarine and brown sugar.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk. Add maple extract.
Pour mixture into a greased and floured tube pan and bake in a 300°F/150°C oven for 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 hours.
When partially cool, cover with frosting.
