Ingredients

Cake
1/4 lb butter 115 g
1 cup sugar 250 mL
2 eggs, beaten 2
2 squares bittersweet chocolate, melted 2
2/3 cup all purpose flour 150 mL
  pinch of salt  
1/4 cup milk 60 mL
1 cup chopped nuts 250 mL
1 tsp vanilla 5 mL
Icing
1 tbsp butter 15 mL
1 tsp vanilla 5 mL
2 squares bittersweet chocolate, melted 2
1 cup icing sugar 250 mL
1 egg 1

Directions

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and melted chocolate. Sift the dry ingredients and add alternately with milk. Add nuts and vanilla.

Bake in a greased and floured square pan (8-x8-in /20-x20-cm) at 350°F/180°C for about 30 minutes.

Mix icing ingredients, and spread on cake. Cut in squares.
